Optimise Keywords on Your Pages Like a Search Engine Optimisation Expert |
|
| Category: Computers: Web Design | |
The first thing to define is the three types of content optimisation. The first is \'stuffing\' and involves filling every part of your web page with relevant content. This is a dangerous technique and will most likely get your site banned from the major search engines.
The second type of optimisation is \"organic this involve writing your content in a natural way but only using your keywords when it fits in with the natural flow of your writing. This is better than stuffing but is still lacking enough weight to put you at the top of Google.
The last method and the one you need to use in order to yield the greatest results is \"focussed keyword\" on page optimisation. This involves sticking to strict criteria in order to gain maximum results. Remember search engine spiders are just programming devices meaning this is exactly how your should treat them, writing for search engines and visitors should be a 60/40 compromise in favour of your visitors.
Keyword prominence is the first on page seo factor needed to be considered. Prominence literally relates to proximity of your keywords in relation to the beginning of your page. Each area of your page is viewed individually for instance your title tag should have your targeted keyword as near to the beginning of the text as possible, the same goes for your body content.
Keyword Density is another on page factor and relates to the amount of times you use a keywords in relation to the amount of other words on your web page. In my opinion you should aim for around 40 - 65 percent density in your title tags and 3 - 7 in your main body content. There is also keyword frequency to consider even though this is less important than the first two as it relates to the amount of times your keyword is used. Due to more weight been given to inbound links, keyword frequency has become slightly redundant so dont write masses of low quality content in order to improve your keyword frequency.
Last but not least is keyword proximity. Not every key phrase you pick will be able to be used in one set piece as it will make your content unnatural and maybe penalised. If this is the case simply attempt at getting the relevant words as close to each other as possible, the closer they are the more authority and relevance they will give to your pages.
